Welcome to all Saint Mary Families!!!

Here’s a quick summary of St Mary’s Home and School Association. We hope to see you at all HASA events this year!!!!

MISSION:
HASA’s Mission is to provide support to the educational, social and spiritual needs of the students and faculty, as well as foster a sense of community at St Mary’s.

2014-2015 HASA FEES:
This annual fee of $50.00 per family supports the items listed on the right. Please return your Annual Activities Fee to Megan Capperella, HASA Treasurer, c/o Robbie Capperella 4A. Checks should be made payable to St. Mary’s HASA. Thank you in advance for your support!

FAMILY DIRECTORY AND EMAIL DIRECTORY:
St. Mary’s publishes a hard copy of our Family Directory, as well as maintains an email distribution list of our families for communication of upcoming events and important information. ONLY families that complete the Family Directory Update Form and provide their permission for the current school year will be included in the Family Directory and Email Directory.

If you are not receiving emails from HASA and you would like to receive periodic communications and updates, please send an email with your request to HASA@smsk-8.org and we'll add you to the email distribution list.

HASA MEETING SCHEDULE:
There are three General HASA Meetings each school year, which provide an opportunity to share school news and upcoming events with our parent community, as well as hear an update from the HASA team. Meetings are scheduled in October, February and April; all parents are encouraged to attend!

The HASA Board also meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Parish House. ALL parents are welcome to attend, so please join us if you’d like to assist us in an upcoming event or take part in HASA.

VOLUNTEERS WELCOME AND NEEDED:
HASA’s success is a direct result of the time and talent of our St. Mary’s families. Please consider donating your time or talent to help the activities mentioned above. Be on the lookout for volunteer requests, and/or send an email to HASA@smsk-8.org for more information on how you can help.

A Major Thanks...
... to Jackie Wagner, Joan Fitzgerald, and Megan Capperella for their service on the Home and School Board the last two years. They have given much love and time, which greatly benefitted our school. Thank you very much Jackie, Joan, and Megan.

We are grateful to Cathy and Patrick Moore for stepping into Jackie’s shoes. Also, Heather Buckley, Karen Gribosh, Virginia McElroy, and Vanessa Platt have joined the Home and School Board. Saint Mary’s would be nothing without our loving volunteers. Thank you very much!!!!

Overview of Board Roles and Responsibilities

PRESIDENT

  • Preside at all meetings of HASA and the Executive Board, receive notice of all meetings and exercise general supervision over HASA.

  • Plan the calendar for HASA’s fiscal year and present a summary of the year’s work at the final meeting of the year.

  • Formulate the agenda for HASA and Executive Board meetings.

  • Act as the representative of HASA at appropriate Parish and Archdiocesan functions or appoint a representative to act in his/her behalf.

  • Appoint committee chairs and be a member, ex-officio, of all committees.

RECORDING SECRETARY

  • Keep minutes of all meetings of HASA and Executive Board.

  • Prepare an agenda prior to the meetings, in conjunction with the President.

  • Provide a copy of minutes to the Executive Board and if requested, to HASA membership. Minutes shall be approved by the Executive Board before entered into record.

  • Send notices of regular meetings to members prior to said meetings.

  • Conduct meetings in the absence of the President and Vice-President.

  • Be responsible for all communications to appropriate persons and/or organizations as directed by the President.

  • Be responsible for assurances of a quorum representation and accurate accounting of all official votes at meeting.

  • Prepare a list of all Executive Board members and committee chairperson and committee members.

TREASURER

  • Receive all dues and other monies and make disbursements as directed by the Executive Board.

  • Make a verbal financial report at each General HASA meeting.

  • Provide written financial report at all Executive Board meetings.

  • Keep an accurate account of all receipts and disbursement.

  • Prepare the budget in cooperation with the Executive Board and the Parish Business Manager.

 

Term of office is two years and runs July 1st through June 31st.
