Physical Education is a vital element in a comprehensive, well-balanced educational program. The primary focus is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for enjoyable participation in lifelong involvement in sports and sport-related activities.

The Physical Education curriculum at St. Mary’s develops basic skills into more complex and efficient skills through a variety of activities common to lifelong fitness and student interest.

Helping each student realize their fullest potential - physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually, and encouraging a health-enhancing lifestyle is our goal.

In Technology class, students are introduced in the basic skills of research on the Internet, keyboarding, word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and multimedia presentations. Students become skilled at using various technological programs including Microsoft® Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) to perfect their presentations. Classes are designed to be skill driven, an enhancement of the core curriculum, creative in nature, and fun at the same time.

In music class, St. Mary students develop a basic knowledge of musical concepts, skills, and styles. Various techniques and media including singing, listening, dancing, reading and composing music, creative movements, and musical games and puzzles are used. Additionally, videos, keyboard, tapes/CDs, recordings, and classroom rhythm instruments are used to reinforce the lessons taught. Liturgical music is emphasized by the music teacher during classroom teaching.

At St. Mary's we encourage our students to read!

We have a Reading Olympics team for grades 5-8

In Reading Olympics, teams of students read books from a list provided by the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. In April, our teams meet with Reading Olympics teams from all over the county in a competition to answer comprehension questions from the books that they read.
