Congratulations to our Student Essay Writers!

Every year St. Mary’s competes with local schools in various writing contests. One that we have been involved in for several years is the “Patriots Pen” contest. This is run by our local VFW Post 7155. This year the results are quite good for St. Mary’s. Local results:

1st place Michael McElroy

2nd place Kayla Chamberlain

3rd place Kelsey Bryant

We have never taken ALL 3 places before!!

After the essays are judged at the local level, they go on to the District level. Here are the 16th District Winners:

1st place: Abigail Yarrison

2nd place: Grace Brady

3rd place: Michael McElroy

We have never done this before either! It truly says a lot for the quality of this year's essays. Thank you to all of the students who entered and to our teachers for guiding these students to complete such good pieces. It is not just this year’s teacher that made this possible; it is all the work that has gone into each year of ELA instruction! Thank you for the great job by our students and teachers, and thank you Mrs. Keefe for handling all the logistics for this contest!

... Evan Yasneski and Dominic Natale for being selected from Region 18 to play in the Archdiocese All Star game later this month. The boys were selected from ALL region 18 schools to represent the region at the game which highlights the best varsity players from the entire Archdiocese of Philadelphia! Great job boys!!
